I just happened upon this trick when testing what it was like filming from inside my guitar. *Note this effect is due to the rolling shutter, which is non-representative of how strings actually vibrate. Tips: • You must have the strings brightly backlit to get the camera to capture at such a high frame rate (pure conjecture). You can see how the effect fades when the buildings come into view. • Use a pencil *This was used with the front facing camera, try the back camera, it may capture better! froknowsphoto.com Thats right, you should be able to guess your exposure in three shots or less without using any metering whatsoever. I am not saying you should not learn how to use the in camera meter. I am simply saying by using the cameras LCD screen you should be able to get a solid exposed picture in three shots. Let me also remind you that the LCD screen on the back of the camera may not be an exact representation of what the image really looks like but its pretty close. Here is the Quick Tip, the first shot you can pretty much guess based off of the situation you are shooting in. Ask yourself this, is it bright, dark or somewhere in the middle? What lens are you using and what type of subject are you photographing. Based off of all these questions you should be able to guess a starting point for your first image After you capture the first image take a look at it and ask yourself this. Is it over exposed or underexposed, did you freeze the action and is the DOF what you were looking for. After you figure out what direction you should go take your second image. This image should be much closer if not really close like I was able to do in the video above. Take a look at the second image and ask yourself all the same questions again. At this point your third image should pretty much be spot on. Shooting RAW is definitely going to help you in these situations. FujiFilm Finepix S2980: Photo Slideshow Test 1

This is just a slideshow of a few photos taken on the FujiFilm Finepix S2980. I have tried to cover as many conditions (indoor & outdoor) and levels of zoom as possible. A few notes: – Only a few features of the camera are demonstrated here (eg flash vs. no flash conditions, natural indoor light, natural outdoor light, macro vs. super macro and 18x zoom). – The photos have NOT been taken directly off the camera, ie I had to put the photos into Windows Movie Maker (Win7 version) in order to make the slideshow. Please note, however, I have not introduced any post-photo effects/editing. – YouTube and Movie Maker have fuzzed up the quality of the photos. The photos are quite a lot sharper, more vibrant and have more depth. Compressing the file meant losing some quality. – Natural daylight photos are probably the best, whereas the night and indoor shots depend on the lighting you introduce. Here, I have intentionally avoided introducing flash/lighting in some photos. This is for the sake of comparison. – The video begins with outdoor shots. Indoor shots begin at 2:12. – If you intend to take plenty of high quality photos, I highly recommend purchasing an SD card that allows for more than 2GB storage. Seen better? Have any tips?
