I get asked quite often what should I be looking for when I want to get my first dslr. The most important thing is the glass, without better glass you will be much happier with your results and be less frustrated. You wil learn a ton as you grow so I try to focus on the basics right off the bat, not all the bells and whistles of the camera. Get the basic ideas right and you will be really happy.

A few tips to fight blurry pictures. I thought I would pass along these tips. They are a little bit “beginner” but that’s what I am. These should help you get better pics.

The 18-55mm is a poor lens, I agree, but I have the 55-250mm and It’s pretty good for the price
@lastlane Dude you need to watch your lil digital mouth, Only thing I would need to clean would be my &d after I smacked you upside the head with it chump. What are you like 17 and still living in mommies basement in the middle of like podunk Arkansas. Ha what a joke.
@DeadlyRawPork I never once said it was a bad thing, ASSUming makes an ASS out of U. Go clean your vag because you are clearly on your period
@lastlane Who cares, damn some people smoke herb some smoke rancid tobacco leaves, don’t hate and no one forces you to watch the videos do they, gun to your head or something, ah no didn’t think so (:
@lekmann you are just jealous Jared has people watching his videos and you don’t(: Great videos never mind the messenger pay attention to the message.
@Freepepsi42 – ken rockwell said it’s a good lens. and i’m an idiot to believe him. still looking for a buyer. and am going to get that sig 70-200.
@shutterpillow why did you get the 18-200? With the AF motor you could of gotten a 35 1.8G and a 50mm AF-D for the same price. Sell your 18-200. And get a Sigma 70-200 2.8. or a 2.8 lens any focal length.
i wish I’ve seen this vid before. I got a d90 with an 18-55 lens. then got a 18-200. they said that lens is great but i’m not satisfied. now i know why. i should have just gotton the sig 70-200 f2.8 hsm II. i just needed to add a little more bucks.
3.5 to 5.6..
he is extremely attractive and has many good points. very helpful
theres a mistake in the description – ‘WITHOUT better glass you will be much happier with your results and be less frustrated’, shouldn’t it be WITH better glass?
@DimitryDino No, Canon has a series line and Nikon has a series line. What I would do if I was you is just look up what lenses fit your camera! Its generally pretty easy to find out on Google. I hope I helped!
@JaredPolin Old video… but of curiosity do you ever notice your eyes moving when they do? does it change how you see something, or do you just not notice it?
do all lenses fit any dslr camera body?
@lekmann He is white and has an afro… he is always stoned
hey jared great vid but u should check your description it says “without better glass you will be much happier with your results and less fustrated’ shouldn’t it be “with” instead of “without
“
what is the best entry level DSLR for live shows? music venues, with little light aside from constantly changing light displays
awesome, subscribed
hey jared awesome vids im going to purchase a D3100 and now you have convinced me on buying the body only , can you list three lenses(names and MM) that would be great for beginners, just so i can look around price wise?
Helpful video, thanks.Mike
I just started with used a Nikon d70 and used Nikkor 35mm 1.8g with 8GB card. My budget was tiny and the set was only 250€ altogether. Not bad right? My next glass is going to be Nikkor 85mm 1.8d then the Tokina 11-16mm 2.8. And then it’s time to upgrade to d90 and keep the d70 for a back up. Maybe I will start saving for the 70-200mm 2.8 after that.
@pranshu87
Cool ;-)
@FirebrandNIRE i knew that 😉
@pranshu87
Millimetres perhaps
Thx Fro for the info
@TheKangarooguru No proplem. I sometimes wear glasses and it works fine. They also have extended eyepieces for the viewfinder so it sticks out farther. Have a good day
@nate42nd ah, just wondering (i don’t) i thought it would be awkward to have to hold your eye up to a piece of glass and look through your own piece of glass that helps you see and i thought it would be hard. thanks
@TheKangarooguru There is a small dial next to the viewfinder called a diopter. You can adjust to your prescription. Good luck
sorry this is kinda random but how do you use a dslr if you have glasses?
@WestCoastMods Man you ain’t kidding I actually drank to much coffee once and it makes it literally impossible to hold still for shooting by hand. You are instantly reduced to using a tripod until your coffee wears off.
he sounds like my father , always grumpy and moody.
nice 1 buddy thanks for that
Thank you for your input.
first of all, you dont need 2x your focal lenghth.its 1 x. and with your camera its 1.5 cuz of your cropped sensor. secondly, is or vr, depending on what you shoot, should be off when your shutter speed is fast enough.thats why it has an on/off switch. it will actually do more harm than good when shutter is high. hope that helps
very useful tips. thanks
Thanks for tips
@WestCoastMods Good point! haha
