instead of using rags or using a lubricant like WD40, try using candle, or honey bea wax. just coat the top side of the rail with it, and it will be smooth and slipery.

as long as the rags arent a little elastic, you still would get jerking. why not cut a rubber band in half and use it as a latch? that way any acceleration you force upon the rig, it will be smooth and constant
Instead of crummy rags, maybe you could use some felt with an adhesive side, available at a craft store. just an idea. I enjoy the videos. Thanks!

For using the rag why not just put them inside of the t-joints and then just use some piping or any material to make a handle to easily be able to slide it back and forth without killing the look?

Yeah, you can use SB700 on the camera and for off camera flash you’ll need flash triggers or use commander mode and SB700 in slave mode. There are 4 tutorials on flash and 2 flash photography tips videos so far.

It’s just the manual didn’t list this speedlight? I am hoping I can. I am going to do low key and high key tutorial but I don’t have D5100. But it’s going to be the same no matter what camera I use. Once you understand the fundamental it’s going to be the same for any camera.
