@tardis1996 The pop up flash on most cameras is very harsh. An external flash has more options for diffusing and redirecting its light.
RAW is like a digital negative of the photo you shot, but you’ll have to edit the picture later in your pc.
software is usually provided with the camera or you can use photoshop if you have it.
Pros: less data loss thus more detail in dark area’s
cons: big file size

How about using fill flash in the shade.. what would it look like?
i have a nikon d3100, popping up the flash is how i make it take pictures with flash…but what if i am using my sb-400 flash? how to i make it flash when it’s bright out?
shooting coupld of days ago flash would go off inconsistent…overcast day…some pics look great others needed the flash. thanks for anyone who answers

I have a Nikon D300. When I use the on camera flash for fill, the white balance get screwy and turn the photo very warm.

AFTER I PUT THEM ON PC AND I FOUND 2 WHITE SPOTS IN SOME OF THE PHOTOS. I THING THAT IS JUST SOME DUST, BUT HOW CAN THIS HAPPENED IF MY CAMERA IS NEW??? I USED IT ONLY FOR 2 DAYS..
