I’ve gotten some very decent photos with an E-PL1. The main limitation is that at high ISO settings the images are noisy as compared with some of the more expensive and more recent models.

  2. BHPhotoVideoProAudio says:

Traditional interchangeable lens cameras called SLR’s have a mirror behind the lens which reflects up what the camera is seeing to the viewfinder so you can see what the camera is seeing. “Mirrorless” cameras have interchangeable lens but do not use a mirror for viewing. Instead, the cameras LCD or VF use an electronic video feed off of the cameras sensor.

The Olympus E-PM1 and E-PL3 and very similar to the point of being identical. The E-PM1 is geared towards a first step up from a P/S and has a very simple layout. Most camera functions are menu based so the camera lacks the various buttons the EPL3 has which can be confusing to photographers getting their first serious camera. The NEX C3 is no longer available but did have a larger APS-C sensor compared to the Micro 4/3rds of the Olympus’s.

@ShockingPixel Since we do not carry FileMate memory I would say the SanDisk Extreme is the best choice.

  8. ShockingPixel says:

I have a question. I was wondering if FileMate Elite 64GB vs SanDisk Extreme 64GB which one would come out on top? In comparison to speed, writing, error-free, overall better quality, and basically a trustworthy card I can use worry-free. And finally, how many hours of HD video can both receive at most?

Hope to get a reply back soon, have a great day B&H. Keep up the excellent photo, video, and audio reviews. Keeping me, up-to-date on the lasted technology.

    Is the Olympus E-PL1 ok?

  10. MrDanepearson says:

Would be better if he gave us his bias and let us know with his vocal inflexion when a feature is relative good/bad in its class. They way he talks, everything sounds good. Not that much closer to deciding between the cameras.

  11. BHPhotoVideoProAudio says:

@gs4tech The Sony NEX-5 has a higher resolution sensor, and the sensor is almost twice the size of the Nikon 1 V1. This means that you will capture sharper images with less noise. The downside to the NEX-5 it is a slower camera taking 7 images a second vs. the Nikons 10. For me, I would go with the Sony for the higher image quality. –Jim

  12. How is the Nikon 1 V1 compared to the Sony Nex-5?

@arjungs661992 Hello, the E-PM1 is very compact and also captures 1080 HD video in up to 29 minute clips with stereo sound. It is also very good in low light and is one of the fastest focusing cameras ever made and can shoot 5 photos per second. The overview on our webpage gives an extensive description of all of its features and almost every one of our customer’s reviews have been 5 stars. Thanks, Matt C.

  15. is the Olympus E-PM1 good?

  16. Bestmirrorlesscamera says:

I am waiting for Canon EOS M – right now there are out of the shelf. Nikon 1 V1 and Olympus PEN E-PL1 are also my favorite mirrorless camera.

  17. nex 5n

  18. NEX is such a no brainer, I’ve been using it at first as my secondary, small, camera for quick shots, but the quality is just so fantastic that I stopped carrying my Pentax DSLR altogether…

  19. jungatease says:

How can you miss the EVF on NEX-7….. ????

  20. Ivan Sanchez says:

awesome video… very usefull for those who want a mirorless camera… Automaticaly LIKE.

  21. Sony NEX 7 sounds very impressive, and the Sony NEX 5n seems like something I would buy 😀

  22. BHPhotoVideoProAudio says:

The Nikon 1 V1 and the Olympus E-P3 models would be two of the models I would recommend considering. They are both compact, extremely quick and have excellent image quality. If you want to check them out on our website, copy the following codes into the search box on our site: NI1V1B, and OLEP31442B. If you want one that is less expensive, try the Panasonic GF2 (B&H # PADMCGF2KK).

Hi there. I want to buy a mirrorless camera but I can’t decide which one to get. Can you tell me which one has the best features for the best price in your opinion?

  24. matt jones says:

The Richos are just bizzare, the Nex are the giant killers, but Olympus have the looks.

  25. twinsmammy says:

At 3:07 you mention the E-P3, but have a picture of the black E-PL2. Oops!
