Photography Critique and Tutorial

froknowsphoto.com My skype line rang and on the other end was a young man named Ryan who is just getting his start in photography. He was asking questions about a photo shoot he had in a dark gym and I figured the best way to help him learn was to give him a critique of his work. 1. agreed :-)

  2. Im a nikon fan but I have to admit Canon are probably more the trend now as they do video so much better.

  3. I love the fact that when you are doing critique you don’t use it as an excuse to bully. What I mean by this is that you act professionally, even when handling with complete amateurs. No trace of snobbery here, what you’ll usually find from many “pro” photographers. You obviously put a lot effort to your work, by doing this you are helping your viewers worldwide. Good job!

  4. I shoot Olympus and always see Nikon and Canon shooters around me, and it makes me smile that people do not have their own choice, they are just following the trend. I don’t mean there is something wrong with Nikon or Canon, but those who are making fun of me have never touched an Olympus/Pentax/Sony in their life and always criticize these brands.

  5. Hi, just a composition question to the first picture of the girl. I once got a feedback from one of my photos that either you close the space around the subject or you have space around it. The girl has space on top and on right but the ball is cut by the frame. What is your opinion on the matter?

I agree, and my best friend shoots pentax and gets amazing shots! But should have seen these kids with their rebels thinking they were so pro with their kit lenses. X)

  7. marcomarcucci says:

let your photos speak, everything else is meaningless…by a pentax photographer! 😉

  8. wamphotography135 says:

Yeah to me the canon shutter sounds wayyy over dramatic
I kinda wish the trend went toward canon cause it seems a lot of people are buying nikons but not really trying to use them past AUTO
Dont want to shame the nikon name with that business

  9. hey fro! #7 Robert Jaworski

  16. JaredPolin says:

honestly the tend has been going nikon for a while. Andy nothing sounds more like a toy than those canon shutters.

  17. deadkennedys909 says:

I was shooting a party last night and OMG! I was swarmed by Canon Rebels! Being a Nikon shooter I was really thrown off. Are Canons a trend now? And I was made fun of because of the sound of my shutter. They said it sounded like a toy. XD But they didn’t fire any shots off because they knew they really had the toys 😉
